Maybe something got broken then and not properly fixed? My best guess as to what happened is it my original problem may be related to me messing with the Xaudio2_7.dll file in the past in order to get Assassin's Creed to run with sound. I'm not sure if these were the same as the DirectX 9.0c Runtimes available from Microsoft ( ).Īfter installing them, Fallout 4 had sound.
It was a German-language DX9 installer, from what I could tell, and replaced a bunch of Xaudio. I checked the Megaupload link in the video description and decided to risk it. Step 1 actually didn't work at first, until I stumbled on a Portuguese-language Youtube video ( ) claiming that installing a file called "DirectX 9.0c Extra Files" did the trick. Reinstalled the DirectX Runtimes (June 2010), the same as found in the "_commonRedist" folder in Steam's Fallout 4 directory, though I redownloaded mine from Microsoft. Not sure exactly how, but here's what I did. OK, I had this problem too, and tried everything in this thread (and a few others) with no joy, but I finally got sound to work. Give it a whirl.Īnother potential fix thanks to Stanlejm "Changed from 5.1 surround to 2.1 stereo and now it works just fine!" Theres a directx folder within your "steamapps/fallout4" and you should be able to run direct x there to do a reinstall. Head to the advanced tab and change the "default format" to 16bit 48000 Hz (DVD Quality) or any of the other ones See if that works!Īnother thing I read was to reinstall directx. This MIGHT fix it - Right click the speaker icon in the bottom right on Windows, and press "Playback devices" then highlight your speakers (will probably be one with a green tick) then click "properties" in the bottom right.
Had this problem with Skyrim when it came out.
Have tried Fiddled with Pre Launch settings, Fiddled with Menu Audio Settings, Restarted ComputerĬurrently trying a quick reinstall, just let me know if any of you guys have an issue! Cheers Intro black and white cinematic has audio, but character creation does not. Hey guys! Wondering if anyone else has ran into a no audio 'bug' on PC?
